Just Thought I'd Introduce Myself

Well folks, it has happened! My analog ass has finally arrived in the digital world. Those who know me and read this blog will be shocked. For years now, I have vehemently refused to entangle myself in online social webs like myspace and facebook. I have chosen to abstain from such things solely based on fear. Fear of what, I can't really pinpoint. I guess its kind of like the fear my grandmother has of leaving the lights in her house on during a thunderstorm. It seems logical to her that a lightening bolt will suddenly cause her house to explode, and it seems logical to me that my ex-boyfriend will find me on the internet and resume his stalkerish ways. Damn........I really need to get around to changing my phone number.

Anyway, I guess an introduction is in order. I am Fran, a loving young black woman struggling to make her way in this complicated world. Doesn't that sound just like the character Thelma from Good Times?

My African American Literature professor has made this blog an assignment for his class, and it is supposed to be all about hip-hop. I think that's pretty cool and modern of him. I mean, my mama never had to do anything like this when she went to college back in 72'.

This blog is right on time for me. I've got a lot to say about hip hop, and writing this blog will enable me to vent to people other than my friends who normally tune me out as they watch the latest Lil Wayne video on my free cable.

Peace,
Omo Oshun
